About e-DOD
  • What is e-DOD?


  • The e-DOD Project is an "End of Studies" development project to develop an open source IDE (Integrated Development Environment). Its objective is to enable developers to build, deploy and share applications with a simple web browser regardless of geographic location.

  • What exactly can I do with it?


  • The e-DOD Project enables development team to build application regardless of geographic location. The e-DOD Project will be like any other IDE, developers will work on an interface allowing managing, development, compilation and execution of an application.

  • How does e-DOD work?


  • E-DOD works as a client (web browser) / Server (e-DOD server) scheme.

  • Is e-DOD really installation's free?


  • As e-DOD is working on a Client/Server scheme, the only installation to be made is the servers. Once the servers are configured anyone will be able to reach the e-DOD server as long as they have access to the network.

  • Is e-DOD free?


  • Yes, e-DOD is totally FREE, e-DOD is open source software, meaning that anyone has the right to download and use the software for free, to distribute it unmodified to other people, and even to view and modify the source code under the terms of Mozilla Public License (MPL).

  • What technologies are included in e-DOD?


  • To build e-DOD we are using technologies such as:
    • C# / ASP.NET
    • Mono
    • Ajax (Asynchronous Javascript And XML) / DHTML
    • Javascript
    • MySQL5
    • SVN Subversion
  • Under which license is e-DOD available?


  • The e-DOD Project is released under the Mozilla Public License (MPL).

  • What browsers does e-DOD support?


  • e-DOD will work wherever you have access to the Internet via a computer with one of these browsers:
    • IE 5.5+
    • Mozilla 1.4+
    • Firefox 1.0.6+
    Regardless of your browser type, you must:

    • Enable cookies
    • Enable Javascript
  • Does e-DOD work today?


  • The e-DOD Project is still on active development. A pre-release will be available on the second semester 2006.

  • What programming languages are available for e-DOD?


  • The pre-release version will make available languages such as:
    • HTML
    • Javascript
    • PHP
    As you can see those languages are all interpreted languages, compiled languages are in the 2007 scope.

  • What architectures and operating systems do e-DOD client support?


  • e-DOD works on all the architectures and operating system as long as the browser are compatibles.

  • What architectures and operating systems do e-DOD server support?


  • The e-DOD server is build with the Mono Project so the server will work on every platform/architecture supported by the Mono Project.

  • Is e-DOD available in my language?


  • The e-DOD Project will be available in 3 languages:

    • French
    • English
    • Chinese
